Jews first settled in the West Galician town of Niepolomice in the mid-18th century. Its first rabbi, the son of Rabbi Shmuel of Gorlice, was Rabbi Yosef Teitelbaum, who served in this post for nearly half a century, until his passing in 1916.
In 2015, Geder Avos and Oholei Tzaddikim erected a fence around the local cemetery, and a modest Ohel over the holy resting place of Rabbi Yosef.
