Geder Avos

The picturesque cemetery on the wooded outskirts of this town, officially called Kosiv, is now protected by a fence with a dignified gateway. This project was completed in 2007 by Geder Avos and Oholei Tzadikim under the leadership of Rabbi Israel Meir Gabay.

Oholei Tzadikim and Geder Avos also renovated the Ohel of the Chassidic masters who lie there: Rabbi Boruch of Kosov (-1779), a prominent disciple of the Maggid of Mezritch; Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Kosov (1768-1826); and Rabbi Menachem Mendel’s son Rabbi Chaim of Kosov (1795-1854). The Vizhnitz dynasty is the best-known branch of the Kosover dynasty, whose numerous sects were founded by descendants of Rabbi Mendel of Kosov.

This project has special meaning for Geder Avos as our founder, the late Rabbi Moses Josef Rubin, was a scion and proud standard-bearer of the Kosover dynasty.
